The Learning Data Science team is responsible for using data to determine and predict behaviors related to how learners engage with SAS Education resources and offerings. The team designs, conducts and reviews experiments aimed at determining what strategies increase the engagement of learners. In part driven by data, and in part by business stakeholder input, the Learning Data Science team is focused on driving business value and growth through effective engagement strategies. 

As an intern, you might:  

  • Participate in the design, execution and review of data experiments

  • Write or modify code or data queries to support usage analysis

  • Create or maintain visualizations and reports that communicate findings 

  • Interface with business stakeholders to understand their needs and/or convey results 

   

Required Qualifications 

  • Currently pursuing a Master's Degree

  • Targeted majors: Data Science, Computer Science, Mathematics or Statistics 

  • Programming experience: SAS, SQL and/or Python  

  • You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. These are our values and influence everything we do. 

  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal. 

  • Leadership abilities. Your past experiences demonstrate you’ll take initiative and go above and beyond the call of duty. 

  • You’re interested in the future of Analytics and embrace technology.  

 

Preferred Qualifications 

  • Data experiment design

  • GIT-based code repositories such as GitHub, GitLab, etc.

  • SAS Programming (Data Step, Macro, SQL), Data Visualization 

  • Technical Support applications such as JIRA, ServiceNow, etc.

  • Report Visualization applications such as SAS Visual Analytics, Tableau, Power BI, etc.  

Location 

  • Does this job require the student to be on campus at Cary HQ to perform the job responsibilities?

    • No (but some on-campus time is preferred) 

  • Team is hybrid and geographically diversion (multiple countries, multiple time zones)

  • Internship: May 19, 2026 – August 7, 2026.

Pay Transparency: The hourly rate for SAS internships is determined by the applicant’s year in school and the position they are hired into. Hourly rates range from $15 – $31 for associate’s/bachelor’s level positions and $29 - $49/hour for master’s/Ph.D positions. Internship roles are not eligible for bonus.
