About the job

The Industry and Vertical Solutions Marketing team is looking for a Director, Global Healthcare & Life Sciences Industry to approach this role with vision, industry domain, perspective, and alignment with the SAS’ corporate strategy and CMO vision. This role will both define and operationalize SAS’ global approach to industry-first business planning, while leading a high-performing team focused on vertical solutions marketing across Health Care & Life Sciences.

 

This leader, together with the SAS SVP Global HLS Sales, will drive SAS’s industry business planning strategy for Health Care & Life Science, and serve as a key advisor to senior leadership to guide market decisions. The ideal candidate will bring deep domain expertise, cross-functional leadership, strong communication skills for internal and external audiences, and a passion for advancing the use of data and AI in the health ecosystem through collaboration and shared purpose.

 

Industry & Vertical Solutions Marketing is responsible for the global industry marketing strategy of the SAS Health Care & Life Sciences portfolio of solutions and services, ensuring offerings target the right audience with the right messaging through the right channels to address buyer needs. Industry marketing leverages a deep understanding of buyers and their needs to identify opportunities for growth, collaborate on developing a go-to-market plan, research buyer personas, and craft messaging that helps other marketing functions generate awareness and demand. This team is a critical part of sales success, equipping account teams with the knowledge needed to convert marketing leads to closed revenue.

 

We are seeking a customer-obsessed problem solver, a disruptor, and someone who is ready to drive the Global Industry and Vertical Solutions Marketing Strategy for our software solutions, products, and services aimed at health care and life sciences customers worldwide. A desire for continuous improvement, along with a restless curiosity and a natural inclination to lead inspiringly, will propel and motivate you.

This highly visible role will report to the Senior Global Director of Industry and Vertical Solutions Marketing (across all sectors) and interact with senior leaders in Marketing (including branding, communication, field marketing, messaging, content, analyst relations, and media relations), R&D, and the SVP of HLS Sales.

 

As a Director, Global Health Care & Life Sciences Industry, you will:

  • Architect and execute a Global Industry Business Plan for HLS, integrating outside-in-market insights with inside-out capabilities.
  • Drive annual strategic planning activities for Business Planning for HLS, including the HLS State of Industry, Solution/Product Portfolio Strategies and GTM Strategy(s), and ensure execution in collaboration with the team.
  • Partner with senior leaders across:
    • Marketing to shape integrated campaigns and messaging
    • Product Management to influence roadmaps aligned with industry needs
    • Sales leadership to ensure strategic alignment
    • Alliances to evolve partner strategy and joint value propositions
    • Sales Enablement to define and deliver industry-specific enablement plans
  • Champion a unified global industry community strategy to accelerate knowledge sharing and internal alignment.
  • Lead team to create impactful strategies which, among other responsibilities:
    • Inform global go-to-market approach across the full customer journey
    • Outline thought leadership plan and digital spearhead orchestration
    • Launch new vertical solutions and enable sellers (direct and channel)
    • Influence analyst relations and influencer relations
    • Lead The Health Pulse podcast editorial and marketing strategy
    • Measure impact quarterly on key performance indicators internally and externally
  • Team Leadership & Market Engagement
    • Lead and mentor a global team of industry and vertical solutions marketers, fostering a culture of innovation, accountability, and impact.
    • Represent SAS at key industry events, customer forums, and executive briefings.
    • Build trusted relationships with customers, partners, and thought leaders to inform and validate SAS’s industry direction.

Required qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in strategic business planning, industry planning, or go-to-market leadership in the Health Care & Life Sciences industries.
  • Proven success leading cross-functional teams and driving transformation into complex, matrixed organizations.
  • Deep understanding of HLS market dynamics, regulatory environments, and technology adoption trends.
  • Executive presence and communication skills, with experience speaking at global events and engaging senior stakeholders.
  • Bachelor’s degree required; MBA or advanced degree preferred.
  • Equivalent combination of related education, training and experience may be considered in place of the above qualifications.
