The State and Local Government sales organization has an immediate opening for a Government Analytics Account Executive who will focus on business-to-business (“B2B”) partnerships and State Government procurement.


Your responsibilities will consist of executing on strategies and best practices that will create new business revenue from SAS’ Government Analytics platform by targeting companies whose products and services are sold into State Government agencies, primarily within the highways, transit and turnpike/tolling agencies.


The responsibilities will also include developing and implementing a targeted go-to-market strategy in conjunction with key stakeholders within the SAS State and Local Government practice, including Pre-Sales Support, Business Development, and Industry Consulting; selling a portfolio of Business Intelligence Products (Data Integration, Data Management, Reporting and Advanced Analytics); developing and selling business solutions that meet customers' go-to-market needs; executing proven sales/marketing tactics and programs in order to meet or exceed assigned objectives; identifying, qualifying and disqualifying prospective opportunities to build the appropriate funnel portfolio; developing and executing a national marketing and management plan; managing customer and prospect accounts to achieve expedient purchase decisions and to assist customers with problem resolutions; identifying and calling on all levels of an organization from a ground-level technician to senior agency heads/elected officials/ "C" level executives; demonstrating your ability to partner with a client, prospect or partner in order to uncover and move opportunities forward; and performing other duties as assigned.


Essential Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in civil engineering, transportation engineering, business management or quantitative field of study
  • 8 years of government transportation experience including sales or business development working with Federal or State Government 
  • Ability to travel within the eastern US at least 40% of the time or as business needs require 
  • Proximity to a major airport

Additional Requirements:

  • Current C level contacts within Federal, or State Government Department of Transportation markets where you have become a trusted advisor to the client 
  • Advanced knowledge of industry software and hardware terminology and concepts
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, strategic selling skills, skills in analyzing and evaluating territory dynamics to develop and implement a sales plan 
  • Ability to initiate and lead projects 
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment 
  • Ability to relate technical and business concepts to SAS solutions, applications and user needs 


  • Demonstrated success working with executive and legislative branches of state government
  • Knowledge in one or more of the following areas:
    • Performance Measures/Metrics required by FHWA for DOTs and FTA for Transit Agencies 
    • Route Scheduling / Optimization for Transit Agencies 
    • Asset Management and Asset Analytics
    • Travel Demand Model Optimization / Calibration 
    • Active Traffic Demand Management 
    • Revenue Management and Transportation Programming
  • 10 years of government transportation experience including sales or business development working with Federal or State Government
