As a member of the IT Portfolio Management Office you will lead a dynamic group of professionals managing cross-divisional and global internal projects.  You will interact extensively with internal customers to help drive exciting new business initiatives and manage the corresponding portfolio of programs and projects encompassing large cross-functional/global project teams.

 

Working at SAS' Worldwide Headquarters, your responsibilities include:

  • Ensuring that IT portfolio programs and projects are initiated, tracked and delivered effectively, focusing on meeting key customer objectives with an emphasis on quality.
  • Ensuring project requirements and delivery consider the entire enterprise including stakeholder, IT and resource and planning impacts through the effective use of the IT Project Management Methodology.
  • Ensuring effective coordination, status reporting, and stability of project and/or programs.
  • Proactively identifying, tracking and resolving issues, risks and dependencies associated with projects managed.
  • Participating in governance, prioritization and planning efforts across the portfolio.
  • Collaborating with divisional and cross-divisional managers to ensure quality and consistency among projects
  • Maintaining and enhancing the IT PMO processes and standards and the associated project management methodology. Communicate and align processes with complementary IT and business teams and processes.
  • Managing administrative aspects of the department, including personnel matters. Sets performance goals/standards/objectives for the team. Conducts performance appraisals and provides ongoing performance feedback to direct reports. Encourages and fosters individual professional growth, as well as teamwork among employees. Provides training opportunities to staff.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications

Essential:

  • Experience leading a team of project managers for successful delivery of global enterprise business solutions.
  • Ability to manage multiple competing priorities and work in fast paced, high volume environment.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Business or a related quantitative or business field.

Equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience may be considered in place of the education requirement stated above.

 

Preferred:

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills (executive presence)
  • Experience with agile/scrum methodologies 
  • Experience with IT Portfolio Management and Enterprise PMO systems
  • Clear evidence of building and managing high performing teams
  • Proven ability in solving complex issues and challenges.
  • Excellent interpersonal, team-building, organizational, time-management and planning skills.
  • Experience working for a global technology company
