Our curiosity fuels innovation, pushing boundaries, challenging the status quo and changing the way we live.   What you’ll do We’re looking for a Cloud / Kubernetes Operator Software Engineer.  This position requires an experienced,  disciplined software engineer, with extensive Kubernetes and Kubernetes Operator Framework knowledge. The position requires experience building cloud native applications, application scalability and fault tolerance in Kubernetes.  Additionally, network and ingress knowledge are extremely important, including Nginx, OpenShift Routes, Contour Envoy, secure proxies, and TLS.  Application development is primarily done in Go, but C++ knowledge is also required for integration aspects with the SAS Event Stream Processing runtime server.  Modern software development practices using Jira tickets, agile development methodologies and source control in GIT are the norm.   The SAS Event Stream Processing eco-system is a suite of applications consisting of a runtime-server (C++), Kubernetes framework support applications (Go), graphical user-based clients (built by a separate SAS team), and a Kubernetes operator (Go). Future development and maintenance of the Go components and the touchpoints in the SAS Event Stream Processing runtime server will be primary responsibilities. The Go eco-system currently consists of: ESP operator, Custom Load Balance and an Oauth2 Proxy / Pivotal UAA server.    You will: - Design and architecture of the Event Stream Processing direction for Kubernetes, including: - SAS specific (Viya) Event Stream Processing eco-system on Azure, AWS, Google and OpenShift. This involves considerable integration with other SAS microservices. - Lightweight generic Event Stream processing eco-system on Azure, AWS, Google and OpenShift.  This is a full feature, but minimal deployment leveraging the Oath2 Proxy and UAA authentication server from the opensource community. - All aspects of Kubernetes including a detailed understanding of Oauth2 authentications mechanisms. Familiarity with the Pivotal UAA server is important.  - Networking and Ingress technologies. - Continued development and direction of the SAS Event Stream Processing Operator, Oauth2 Proxy, and Load Balancer (all written in Go). - Federated data store across multiple cloud vendors for storage of machine learning models and input/output data.  - Security aspects of Event Stream Processing Server (C++) in Kubernetes and in bare OS implementations   What we’re looking for: - Technical expertise in the development of Kubernetes Operators in Go. - Understanding of Authentication and Proxy system for Kubernetes. - Basic familiarity with C++ and Object-Oriented Programming.   - You’re curious, passionate, authentic, and accountable. This individual will establish and build broad relationships with the customer, and our highly matrixed interdepartmental team, by bringing healthcare technical domain and expertise to assist with the solutioning of Production level issues, defects and problems and by strategizing on new opportunities/goals to improve the existing platform and related integrations.  They will communicate and present current SAS and third-party technologies, as well as options for future direction. Primary Responsibilities: - Collaborate with others on a matrixed team to support, remediate, consult and execute on standard operations as well as special projects within the SAS US Public Sector Healthcare Production Support Team. - Serve as a technical project manager for all projects related to developing, scaling, maintaining and managing the production Intersystems Healthshare (3rd party) platform and related integrations. - Provide hands-on technical project management expertise for large-scale customer problem resolution and implementations that utilize healthcare interoperability standards (e.g. HL7/FHIR, CDA, IHE, X12). - Serve as the primary Production Support technical contact for the USPS Project and Delivery Team as well as hired sub-contractors and vendor partners. - Work with the development team to deliver level of effort estimates, communicate assumptions and risks associated with implementing new/upgraded technical solutions and classify the severity of reported issues/defects that relate to healthcare interoperability. - Participate in product and solution training to acquire and maintain a detailed level of product knowledge of SAS and third-party offerings. - Engage customer or participant at executive and other levels to nurture and enhance relationships as needed. - Advise on technical design and delivery best practices for healthcare interfaces. - Coordinate the creation and completion of technical design and specification documents for internal and external audiences. - Document all work in the appropriate SAS ticketing system, compile status reports and ensure that account action items are completed and/or escalated to the appropriate level of management. - Document how the platform and integrations are being used and periodically recommend changes or enhancements. - Stay current on industry activities related to interoperability standards and the tools/software/features used to support these standards. - Provide rotational Level-2 on-call support as needed. The Technical Enablement Academy provides training in core SAS technology areas. During the Technical Enablement Academy, key stakeholders provide guidance, coaching and expert feedback. You will also have an opportunity to achieve multiple professional SAS certifications.
